Why them?
Why did the engine name them and not us?
When AI recommends a competitor instead, see the public signals that may help explain the difference.
What you get
- When Grok, Gemini, or Perplexity name a competitor, a plain-English look at the public signals that may help explain the difference — mention counts, listings, and public facts the crawler can fetch.
- A “close the gap” line: which public pages or listings to match, not a private-data leak.
- Shown on CompetitorSignal in the app, and again inside a CompetitorSignal extra report. There is no standalone Why them? route.
What data it uses
- Stored AI answers from your last Reveal scan — who was named, and how often.
- Public listings found vs missing, and public competitor footprints (credentials, location language, a fetchable website).
- Public web and prior scans only. No extra paid engine API is purchased just to open this section.
- Public web, public listings, public reviews, and public AI tests only. No CRM, email, Slack, or call recordings.
What you see
- A short list of competing names on /app/competitors, each with an explanation and a close-the-gap action.
- If no competing names are in stored answers yet: an empty state, not a fabricated rival.
What it does not do
- Does not pull CRM, email, Slack, or call recordings to explain a mention.
- Does not invent reviews, ratings, or clients.
- We show you what to do. We do not run your marketing, post as you, or manage the work.
- Does not claim a live “why them” API beyond the CompetitorSignal page and extra report.
